First check which Brass you own, then decide whether you want a complete component set or one focused upgrade. Birmingham uses beer barrels; Lancashire does not need those pieces.
Which complete set matches your game?
The Birmingham Deluxe Upgrade Set contains 56 canal boats, 56 trains, 30 coal carts, 18 iron blocks, 15 beer barrels, four top hats for victory points and four money bags for income.
The Lancashire Deluxe Upgrade Set has the same quantities of boats, trains, coal, iron and player markers, without the beer barrels. For a Lancashire-only table, that avoids buying resources you will not use.
Prefer to upgrade one category?
- Trains & Boats: 56 of each across four player colours, for canal and rail connections. No resources or player-track markers.
- Resource Tokens: choose Birmingham for 30 coal, 18 iron and 15 beer pieces; choose Lancashire for 30 coal and 18 iron only.
- Score & Income Markers: four top hats and four money bags, usable with either game.
Start with resources if that is what you most want to handle differently. Choose connections for a stronger visual distinction between boats and trains. Choose the eight markers if you only want to distinguish the two player tracks. Each of these groups is already included in its corresponding complete set.
What if you own both games?
The Birmingham listing confirms that its trains, boats, coal, iron and score/income markers can also be used with Lancashire. You can transfer that set between games and leave out the beer when playing Lancashire. This is different from having enough separate sets to keep both games equipped at the same time.
Deluxe accessories are not a deluxe game edition
These are unofficial DeluxyGames accessories. They do not include the board game, cards, industry tiles, money coins or Iron Clays. Existing money upgrades are therefore a separate consideration.
