Coins and compasses are a different purchase from explorer figures and research markers. If the pieces you most want to change are the cardboard resources, start with COINS + COMPASSES. There is no need to replace figures or research markers at the same time.

- ONLY FIGURES: eight explorers, two in each of four colours.

The complete selection already contains the separate component groups. It does not include replacement arrowheads, tablets or jewels; keep those original resource pieces.
Do you use Expedition Leaders?
The Captain piece is relevant to the Captain from Expedition Leaders. It does not include the leader board, cards or expansion rules, and it does not add a worker to an ordinary base-game setup.
Community upgrade choices often mix upgraded coins and compasses with existing tactile resources. Follow that practical approach: compare what you already like with what you actually want to replace. This guide does not establish a fit in every third-party insert.
